Dermal Fillers

Natural beauty woman portraitSometimes when creams and lotions are not sufficient, but having surgery seems too drastic, a dermal filler may help to achieve a younger and smoother complexion. Dermal fillers are a safe and popular choice as they can effectively diminish the signs of ageing, rehydrate the skin tissue and the results can be seen immediately. This is a non permanent treatment which aims to add volume and soften the creases of the skin by adding dermal filler directly to lines or furrows, softening the signs of ageing and restoring definition to the face. Hyaluronic acid is contained in dermal fillers, which is used to keep the skin smooth and is found naturally in large amounts throughout our bodies when we are young. As we get older, this amount decreases causing our skin to lose the ability to retain moisture, plumpness and the ageing process also causes our skin to sag.

Juvederm Ultra

This is a range of smooth and non particular gels which are injected to fill fine lines, wrinkles or folds and can redefine lips. The treatment does not take long, can last for up to 12 months and also contains a local anaesthetic for your comfort. The results aim to leave the skin looking younger and feeling smoother without surgery.

This dermal filler is also used to add volume to treat lines, folds or wrinkles and lasts for up to 6 months.

Lip Enhancement

A dermal filler is used to augment the lips, aiming to increase definition which enhances the natural size and shape of the lip contour. This treatment is suitable for all ages as it restores the plumpness lost by ageing and can increase fullness for those wishing to increase volume. The treatment can last for up to 12 months depending on which dermal filler is used.

What to expect

After a treatment, you may develop redness which is likely to disappear within several hours. Any swelling should settle in 3-7 days and any red treated areas should not be exposed to intense heat. We also recommend that you massage the injected area over the first 48 hours. Both dermal fillers and wrinkle relaxing treatments can be complementary to one another, and are of benefit in obtaining a more rejuvenated look following some facial surgery. Bruising, although somewhat unlikely may develop after a treatment, for which a cream maybe recommended for reducing the effects of such bruising. The rare complication of blindness has been reported when dermal fillers are injected in certain areas of the face. This and other possible complications can be discussed fully during your consultation.
